PHOTOS GROENE ENGEL
Coen played a short acoustic set last Saturday in his hometown of Oss. The gig was filmed, but until we have the videos, we thought we'd throw some pics here. Click here to see them all!

3FM ONE HOUR SERVICE
Yesterday, we were invited to radio 3FM, to write a song in one hour. The idea: listeners send song titles (by text or Twitter), the band picks one, and writes a song about it in an hour. We picked 'Creating Memories': a listener had a friend who recently was in a car crash, and has trouble creating new short-term memories. The story immediately clicked with us, and we started writing. After an hour, this is what we came up with. (For the non-Dutchies: the song starts at 03:00. Lyrics are below!)
Verse 1
Stuck inside my head again, something familiar is not my friend
Wondering where will this end
Everything's fine and I'm OK, smiling at every single day
But behind me was a road I can't contain
Pre chorus
I'm lost, but I do know the way
But I'm scared that once I'm on my way I won't remember yesterday
Chorus
Stuck inside my head again
The road I took is lost and then
I'm waiting where you end and I begin
For my friends I love you please
My life 'till now was just a breeze
Now I'm stuck creating memories
Verse 2
I look at you with mixed regret, like a past that I'll never get
Smiling at things I will forget
Everything's fine and I'm OK, I'm smiling my whole life away
Hoping that those things come out and play
Bridge
Everything's fine and I'm OK
But I can't remember what I did yesterday
We also played our single, of course. All in all, we had a great time!
INTERVIEW NEDERKLINKERS
Last Sunday, Coen was interviewed on Roulette FM, who are playing our single like crazy. Listen to it here.

RADIO 2 GIG

Yesterday was our Radio 2 gig. DJ Sander and producer Peter made us feel very welcome, and we had a lot of fun - on-air as well as off-air. We played two of our songs, a cover of John Mayer's Daughters (without rehearsing - we literally looked up the chords a minute before we went on-air), and Coen sang a little bit on a karaoke version of The Beatles' A Hard Days Night. Off key, we might add.
All in all, a lot of fun. See below!
EUROSONIC GIG CANCELLED
With all the great news this week (Radio 2 is playing our single!), there was bound to be some bad news looming on the horizon. And there is: our Eurosonic gig is cancelled.
For those of you who didn't know: we were set to play a showcase during the Eurosonic festival in Groningen next week. We were part of the 'alternative' planning. Meaning we were playing in the city, instead of the festival itself. Not at all a bad place to play, since the city's crowded with people from 'the biz' and people looking for new music.
But alas, the gig fell through. Our booker Bryan and the organisation couldn't work out some details. Until next time, then, Groningen! Have fun next weekend!
END OF YEAR LIST
We're a sucker for end-of-year-lists. We could do about a hundred of them, but we opted to only do one: our favorite album of the year. And yes, our own one was off-limits.
Marvin: Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Why? "Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins are my heroes. And this album just gives me energy."
Fave track: These Days
Evert: Bon Iver - Bon Iver
Why? "Good songs, good production, good vocals, et cetera."
Fave track: Perth
Coen: Viva Brother - Famous First Words
Why? "An excellent debut album: insanely catchy songs and a great attitude for a debut."
Fave track: Darling Buds of May
Sander: Amos Lee - Mission Bell
Why? "With beautiful songs, it's a roots-album you can play 25 times without getting sick of it."
Fave track: El Camino
